Canada believes in family reunification

Your relatives can live, study and work in Canada if they become permanent residents of Canada. You can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if you're at least 18 years old and a:

  •  Canadian citizen or
  •  person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act or
  •  permanent resident of Canada.
You can sponsor your;
  •  Spouses and common-law partners
  •  Dependent children
  •  Parents and grandparents

NOTE: There are exceptions to this rule and it may be possible to support a non-immediate family member in certain circumstances with family immigration to Canada program.

As an sponsor, you need to sign a Sponsorship Agreement with your sponsored family member. This is a commitment from your end as a sponsor to provide financial support as well as health coverage that is primarily not covered by public health services.

Who is eligible for IMP? Employees entering Canada under certain trade agreements such as the North American Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA) or Employees with an open Canadian work visa who enter Canada and the Workers being transferred pointer-companies to Canada.

Canada Spouse Visa

Following are the conditions that need to be fulfilled in order to apply and qualify for a Canada Spouse Visa:-

Both parties must be 18 years or older. The person you are sponsoring to, should be a member of the family class. As a sponsor, you must be a permanent resident of Canada, a Canadian citizen, or have a work permit to sponsor your spouse.

Sponsorship Undertaking

Sponsorship undertaking means that you as a sponsor will have to sign an "undertaking" that gives you legal obligation for the family well-being sponsored to immigrate to Canada. If that family member needs government social assistance, you will bear all necessary financial burden to pay for government social assistance.

The undertaking will last for a period of time-based on the family member you sponsor and will not be cancelled even if circumstances change (i.e. if you divorce or separate, or if your sponsored person becomes a Canadian citizen, or if you combat with financial problems).
