PERMANENT RESIDENCE (EXPRESS ENTRY)

Image

Canada is looking to welcome over 460000 immigrants each year.

There are 3 immigration programs managed through Express Entry:

Canadian Experience Class

It is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience. Your work experience must have been gained in the 3 years before you apply.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

This is for skilled workers with foreign work experience and must meet criteria for education and other factors.

Federal Skilled Trades Program

This type is for skilled workers who are qualified in a skilled trade. You must have a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification.

How does it work?

With the Express Entry System, an electronic profile of the applicant must be prepared and submitted to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
CIC will then assess and rank your profile amongst other applicant's profiles in a pool. Your assessment and ranking will be based on:

  •  1. English and/or French language skills
  •  2. Education Level
  •  3. Work experience and more

Only top ranked profiles would receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Note: Completing an online Express Entry profile or entering the pool does not guarantee that you will get an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence.

The government's objective is to process most applications for permanent residency within six months or less. (This period starts on the date they get a complete application and ends on the date a final decision is made on your application for permanent residence.)

If you're eligible for one of the above programs, you can also apply through Express Entry for the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). If you're nominated, you'll get extra points so you can be invited to apply quickly.
